Jon Santos is an artist living and working in New York City. He is the principal of Common Space Studio, working in video, sound, performance, sculpture and design. Recent performances / projects include Telegraph at Storefront for Art and Architecture Gala, “Rave labor” at PS1 and Social Mirroring at the New Museum. He has exhibited widely in group exhibitions at BAM, NY, WalkerArt Center, MN and the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, NY.
Santos designed and produced “Hearsay of the Soul” for Werner Herzog’s installation at the Whitney bienniAl, event programming for the New Art Dealers Alliance and a VIP event for Artists Space for Frieze NY. Santos is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute, was a visiting artist at Sint-Lukas Academy in Brussels, an adjunct professor at the California College of Arts in San Francisco.
Santos is a JAMES BEARD AWARD nominee for best restaurant graphics on the work he did for THE DUTCH in New York City and Miami.
He presented his work at the AIGA in Washington, DC and Pecha Kucha in New York and exhibits his work internationally. Santos’ work has appeared in T MAGAZINE, DOSSIER JOURNAL, Paper, Casa Vogue, Bidoun, the Fader, Casa Brutus, Communication Arts, +81 and I.D.
As a DJ, Santos performs regularly with appearances in pop-up clubs and some of the most diverse venus imaginable: The United Nations, East Village Radio, Beats in Space (WNYU), the Wattis Institute in San Francisco, Frieze art fair in London, the Womb Club in Tokyo, The asian Fashion Awards in Shanghai and Beijing for I-Dentity: 25 years of i-D magazine.
