Shabd Simon-Alexander is an internationally renowned textile artist with a background in fine arts. Her clothing line, Shabd, is dyed by hand in her Brooklyn studio and can be found in boutiques and museums around the world. She has collaborated with various designers, organizations and artists, including Baggu, Free People, the Whitney Museum, and on a recent installation created with the artist Georgia Sagri for the 2012 Whitney Biennial. She teaches hand-dyeing, shibori, and other textiles workshops, and taught Martha Stewart how to tie-dye. Her book, Tie-Dye: Dye It, Wear It, Share It, was published in 2013.
